Day One- Surprising grace

Here are some things I reflected on after reading Day 1 of the devotional...

  • authentic thanks is always for all things because God uses all things
  • we need to thank for everything- sacrificing our understanding of what is beneficial, giving thanks isn't easy, its a sacred thing
  • we give thanks to God not because of how we feel, but because of who He is

Ann said these words that linger on my mind...

"The life that counts blessings discovers its yielding more then it seems."

And so, after reflection, I wrote down what I was thankful for. I must be honest and say I had more then one thing floating through my heart, and I thanked God for them anyway! But what I was really thankful for was ...

my feet.

Yes, my feet. I am so thankful to God that He has blessed me with feet to carry me from one place to another. I was walking home under the midday sun, warming my skin in the fresh winter air, and I was surprised at how my feet were just carrying me forward. It's something I take for granted, not recognising the joy it is to be able to walk and journey... I even began pondering all the places I have walked, the streets I have strolled down, the hills I have climbed, and the people I have walked alongside...

It's amazing, these feet of ours.

So thanks God, for the feet that carry me the places You want me to go.
